A hearty classic of Pakistani home cooking, keema anda is finished by cracking eggs into a ground beef and tomato sauce that has simmered over low heat for a long time. The extended simmer lets the spices flavor the meat, making a satisfying nut-free main dish.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Sauté the aromatics

5 min

Sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger in olive oil until softened.

2

Add the ground beef

8 min

Add the ground beef and cook, stirring, until it changes color.

3

Simmer the sauce

40 min

Add the chopped tomatoes, ground red pepper, cumin, and salt. Cover and simmer over low heat for 40 minutes.

4

Add the eggs

8 min

Crack the eggs one at a time over the ground beef sauce. Cover and cook for 8 minutes more, until the egg whites are set.

5

Serve

3 min

Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Reminder

Do not cook the sauce for less than 40 minutes; a shorter cooking time will not let the spices flavor the ground beef fully. Allergen: contains eggs.
