Parboil the rice
8 minBoil the rinsed rice in salted water for 8 minutes, until halfway tender, then drain.
This creamy oven-baked pilaf combines parboiled rice with milk, egg and kashar cheese, then bakes until golden. Popular with children and adults, it is hearty enough to serve on its own without a separate side dish.
Boil the rinsed rice in salted water for 8 minutes, until halfway tender, then drain.
Whisk together the milk, egg, half of the grated kashar cheese, salt and black pepper.
Spread the parboiled rice in a baking dish. Pour the mixture over it and sprinkle the remaining kashar on top.
Bake in a preheated oven until the top is golden and the mixture is set. Important: Do not overcook the rice beforehand; it will finish cooking in the oven.
Important: Parboil the rice only halfway before baking; if fully cooked first, it may fall apart in the oven. Allergens: contains milk, egg and kashar cheese (dairy).
