A classic winter dessert made by slowly baking quince in sweetened water with cloves. Served with kaymak, it makes a much-loved centerpiece for the table.
Wash the quince thoroughly and cut each fruit in half. Use a spoon to scoop out the cores.
Bring the water, sugar, cloves, and cinnamon stick to a boil in a saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Arrange the quince halves in a baking dish, cut sides up, and pour the prepared syrup over them.
Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven until the quince is tender and turns a reddish color.
Transfer the baked quince and syrup to a serving plate and serve with kaymak on the side.
Important: Quince is a firm fruit and needs a long, slow bake. Do not shorten the oven time or the center may remain firm. Allergen: kaymak is a dairy product.
Kızım da yardım etti, birlikte yapmak keyifliydi. Pişirirken evin her tarafı kokladı, komşular bile sordu.
