A fall classic along the Aegean coast, small bluefish is lightly coated in flour and fried until crisp in olive oil. Served with arugula and lemon, it makes a hearty brunch plate.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the fish

5 min

Rinse the cleaned small bluefish under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Salt both sides.

2

Coat with flour

3 min

Lightly coat the fish with all-purpose flour and shake off the excess.

3

Fry the fish

12 min

Heat the olive oil in a skillet and fry the fish for 6 minutes per side, until golden brown.

4

Serve

5 min

Spread the arugula on a plate, arrange the hot fish on top, and serve with a lemon wedge.

Reminder

After salting the fish, let it rest for at least 5 minutes so the salt draws out excess moisture and reduces splattering during frying. Allergen: contains gluten (flour).
