Simmer the syrup
15 minBring the water and sugar to a boil in a pot, stirring until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat.
An elegant Ottoman palace drink made by simmering sugar in water and adding rosewater for a delicate aroma. Served cold for special occasions, this beverage has a light, floral flavor.
Bring the water and sugar to a boil in a pot, stirring until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat.
Once the syrup has cooled slightly, stir in the rosewater and lemon juice.
Chill the drink in the refrigerator and serve in glasses with ice.
Important: Add the rosewater after removing the syrup from the heat; a long boil will drive off its aroma. Caution: Use edible rosewater; scented products intended for decoration are not suitable for drinking.
