Pastries and dough-based dishes
These quick-rising savory buns are an affordable breakfast option made from a simple dough with yogurt and cooking oil, leavened with baking powder. This classic recipe has no filling and goes straight into the oven without a proofing period, so it can be made fresh any morning.
In a bowl, whisk together the lukewarm milk, melted butter, egg, salt, and baking powder.
Gradually add the flour and knead into a soft dough that does not stick to your hands.
Pinch off walnut-sized pieces of dough, roll them into balls, and arrange them on a baking sheet.
Brush the tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C / 390°F until golden.
Important: Do not add too much flour while kneading, or the buns may become tough and fail to rise. Allergens: Contains wheat (gluten), milk/dairy, and eggs. If the oven is too hot, the outside may brown quickly while the inside remains doughy; bake on the middle-upper rack.
