This spiced fruit butter is made by simmering ripe apples, pears, and apricots with cloves and cinnamon until thick. It is a snack that can be frozen in jars and a flavorful way to use up leftover fruit.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Chop the fruit

Core the leftover apples, pears, and apricots, then cut them into small pieces.

2

Cook until thick

75 min

Put the chopped fruit in a pot with the cinnamon stick, cloves, and lemon juice. Cook over low heat for 75 minutes, stirring often, until thick and spreadable.

3

Fill the jars

Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves, then fill clean jars with the fruit butter. Let it cool completely before placing it in the freezer.

Reminder

Keep stirring so the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pot and give the whole batch a scorched flavor. Let it cool completely before filling the jars; hot fruit butter may expand and spill as it cools in the jars.
