Strawberry and blueberry freezer jam is a fresh, sweet British preserve made by mixing the fruit with pectin and letting it rest without cooking. Because it is not heated, the fruit retains much of its vibrant color and fresh flavor.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the Fruit

10 min

Mash the strawberries and mix them with the blueberries in a bowl.

2

Make the Pectin Mixture

5 min

Mix the sugar and pectin in a separate bowl.

3

Combine

10 min

Add the sugar-pectin mixture to the fruit along with the lemon juice, and stir continuously for 3 minutes. Stirring is important to activate the pectin.

4

Let Rest

30 min

Let the mixture rest at room temperature for 30 minutes; the pectin will thicken it during this time.

5

Fill the Jars and Chill

60 min

Fill jars and refrigerate them for at least 60 more minutes, then transfer them to the freezer.

Reminder

After adding the pectin mixture to the fruit, stir continuously for at least 3 minutes; otherwise, the pectin may not activate properly and the jam may not set. For longer storage, put the jars in the freezer.

Karışımı 3 dakika yerine 5 dakika karıştırdım çünkü pektinin dağıldığından emin olamadım, buzdolabında 30 dakika sonra kıvamı hâlâ biraz akışkandı. Belki dondurucuya almadan önce biraz daha beklemek gerekiyor.
