Vushka are tiny Ukrainian dumplings whose name comes from their little ear-shaped folds. The thinly rolled dough is filled with mushroom mixture and folded one by one, a skillful task. They are delicious served cold in a picnic basket, too.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Knead the dough

5 min

Knead the flour, water, egg and salt together to make an elastic dough.

2

Let the dough rest

15 min

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.

3

Prepare the filling

8 min

Sauté the mushrooms and onion in olive oil until softened, then season with black pepper.

4

Fold the dumplings

12 min

Roll the dough out thinly and cut it into small squares. Place a little filling in the center of each square, fold it into a triangle, then bring the two tips together to make an ear shape.

5

Boil the dumplings

5 min

Boil in water for 5 minutes, then drain.

Reminder

Be sure to let the dough rest before rolling it out; unrested dough is not elastic and may tear as you fold it. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten) and eggs.
