The classic caprese salad of Italian cuisine, where sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella are arranged alternately with basil leaves. Served drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, this salad is a simple yet elegant starter option.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Slice the tomato and mozzarella

6 min

Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into equal thickness.

2

Arrange alternately

4 min

Arrange the tomato, mozzarella and basil leaves on a serving plate, alternating them in sequence.

3

Drizzle and serve

2 min

Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the top, season with salt and black pepper, and serve immediately. Note: If the salad is served long after it's prepared, the tomatoes will release their juice and make the plate watery.

Reminder

Important: After taking the mozzarella out of the refrigerator, wait for it to come to room temperature before slicing it; cold cheese stays firm and doesn't fully release its flavor. Contains dairy.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you lightly salt the tomatoes after slicing and let them rest for a few minutes, they release their excess water and the salad doesn't turn watery.
