A quick snack from Iraqi cooking, this toast is made by brushing ready flatbread with za'atar-infused olive oil and topping it with white cheese and tomato. Ready in under fifteen minutes, it is a fast fix for sudden cravings.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the za'atar mixture

2 min

Mix the za'atar and olive oil together in a small bowl.

2

Prepare the flatbread

3 min

Spread the za'atar mixture on the flatbreads and top with the crumbled white cheese and tomato slices.

3

Toast

6 min

Cook in a pan on low heat for three minutes until the base is crisp, then fold in half and warm for one more minute.

4

Serve

2 min

Serve hot.

Reminder

Do not turn the heat up too high; za'atar can burn and turn bitter quickly. Allergens: contains gluten (flatbread), dairy (white cheese) and sesame (za'atar).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Pat the tomato slices lightly dry with a paper towel before adding them, or the base of the toast may turn soggy.
