A Mexican street food classic, carne asada is made by quickly grilling marinated beef sirloin and slicing it thin. Wrapping it in lettuce leaves instead of corn tortillas lowers the carb count while adding a crisp texture.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Marinate

30 min

Rub the beef sirloin with lemon juice, crushed garlic, cumin, olive oil and salt, then chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

2

Grill

12 min

Grill the marinated sirloin over high heat for 12 minutes, turning, until it reaches your desired doneness.

3

Slice and wrap

5 min

Thinly slice the cooked sirloin and arrange it in the lettuce leaves, scatter over the fresh coriander and serve.

Reminder

Letting the meat come to room temperature before grilling helps it cook evenly; straight from the fridge it can char outside while staying raw inside.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Using ribeye instead of sirloin gives a fattier, more flavourful result.
