A hearty homemade burger made with hand-formed beef patties, melting cheddar and fresh ingredients. With its juicy patty seared in a hot pan, it's a main dish that rivals burgers eaten out.
Mix the ground beef lightly with salt and black pepper, without overworking it. Divide into four equal portions and shape into patties the length of the bun, then press a small dimple in the center with your thumb.
Heat a hot skillet over medium-high heat, add the patties, and sear both sides. Cook, turning, until fully cooked through. Once cooked, top each with a slice of cheddar and let it melt.
Lightly toast the burger buns in the pan. Layer lettuce, tomato and onion on the bottom bun, place the cheesy patty on top, close with the top bun, and serve hot.
Important: Make sure the inside of the red-meat burger patty is fully cooked. Contains gluten and dairy. Chilling the patties in the fridge after shaping them keeps them from falling apart while cooking. Serve hot.
Not overworking the köfte mixture keeps the burger soft rather than tough. Pressing a small dimple in the center of the patties with your thumb keeps them from puffing up into a ball while cooking.
