A practical preserve made by soaking dried beans overnight, boiling them until soft, and storing them in sterile jars. It saves time by being quickly added to soups, salads, and dishes.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Soak the beans

Soak the dried beans in plenty of water overnight, then drain.

2

Boil

40 min

Put the drained beans in a pot with fresh water, add salt, and simmer over low heat until soft.

3

Fill the jar

8 min

Drain the boiled beans and fill sterilized jars with them, then add lightly salted boiling water on top.

4

Boil in a water bath

10 min

Close the lids and sterilize the jars by boiling them in a pot of water for ten minutes.

5

Cool and store

Let the jars cool completely, then store in a cool, dark place.

Reminder

Important: Be sure to soak dried beans in water for at least eight hours before boiling, otherwise the cooking time will be longer. Jars must be sterilized in boiling water; if the lid doesn't seal properly, the preserve may spoil. Refrigerate after opening and consume within a few days.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Adding a pinch of baking soda to the blanching water helps the beans soften faster; this addition is optional.
