A Lebanese-style bread made by quickly baking thin dough blended with olive oil and za'atar spice mix. Served hot for breakfast or as a snack, it is folded and eaten by hand.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Knead and let the dough rise

30 min

Dissolve the fresh yeast in warm water and knead into a soft dough with flour, olive oil, and salt; cover and let it rise for 30 minutes until doubled in volume.

2

Prepare the za'atar mixture

5 min

Mix the za'atar with olive oil until it reaches a paste consistency.

3

Shape and spread the topping

10 min

Divide the dough into 6 pieces and roll out into thin rounds, spread the za'atar mixture over them, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

4

Bake

10 min

Bake in a preheated oven until the edges are lightly browned and serve hot.

Reminder

Important: If you knead the za'atar mix with olive oil beforehand into a paste consistency, it spreads more evenly over the dough and won't burn while baking. Allergen: contains wheat (gluten) and sesame.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you drizzle a few drops of lemon juice on top before serving, the za'atar's tangy note becomes more pronounced.
