Black cumin is a spice with a smoky, earthy aroma from its fine, dark-colored seeds. It is used in Iranian, Indian, and Central Asian cuisine in pilaf and meat dishes. Because of its appearance it is often confused with nigella.

Where It's Used

“Toast black cumin in butter and add it to the saffron rice.”
