A British breakfast classic, this orange marmalade uses less sugar and chia seeds to thicken. The bittersweet note of the orange peel balances the sweetness.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the oranges

8 min

Finely chop the orange peel and flesh; remove the seeds.

2

Simmer

12 min

Simmer chopped orange, water, lemon juice and sugar over low heat for 12 minutes, until the peel is soft.

3

Thicken with chia

3 min

Stir in chia seeds and simmer for 3 more minutes before removing from heat; it thickens further as it cools.

4

Fill the jar

4 min

Fill a clean, dry jar with the hot marmalade and close the lid tightly.

Reminder

After filling the jar, turn the marmalade upside down for 5 minutes; this helps the lid form a vacuum seal. Allergen statement: contains no allergens.
