This compote is made by simmering dried plums with a cinnamon stick and flavoring them with lemon. Since it contains no nuts, it can be served even to children with nut sensitivities. Divided into jars and frozen, it keeps for months.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the plums

5 min

Rinse the dried plums with warm water.

2

Simmer

60 min

Place the plums in a pot with water, granulated sugar, and a cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat for 60 minutes, until the plums soften and the liquid darkens.

3

Strain and flavor

10 min

Remove the cinnamon stick, add the lemon juice, and let the compote cool to room temperature.

Reminder

If you plan to freeze the compote, let it cool completely to room temperature first; placing hot liquid directly in the freezer can raise the appliance’s internal temperature.
