Classic Turkish ayran, a foamy yogurt drink whisked with water and salt. A refreshing accompaniment to meals, it is especially popular with kebabs, pilaf, and börek.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Thin the yogurt

2 min

Put the yogurt in a large bowl and whisk it with half of a 200 ml measure of water until smooth. Removing all the lumps is important for the right consistency.

2

Whisk until foamy

3 min

Add the remaining cold water and the salt. Whisk by hand or with a mixer until foamy. Pour into glasses and serve cold.

Reminder

Important: For smooth, foamy ayran, first whisk the yogurt with a little water, then add the rest. Contains dairy. It tastes best fresh; it can be refrigerated in a covered container for 1 day. Whisk again before serving. Allergen: The ingredient list includes dairy. Check packaged product labels for other allergens.
