Boil the Mulberries
15 minBring the mulberries, sugar, and two 200 ml measures of water to a boil in a pot. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
This refreshing drink is made by boiling fresh mulberries with sugar and water, then straining the mixture. Balanced with lemon juice, it is especially refreshing when served over ice at brunch.
Bring the mulberries, sugar, and two 200 ml measures of water to a boil in a pot. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Strain the mixture through cheesecloth and set aside the pulp.
Chill the resulting syrup in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes.
Mix the syrup with the remaining water, add the lemon juice, and serve over ice.
Stir the mulberries occasionally as they boil so they do not stick to the bottom of the pot and burn. Do not serve the drink until it has chilled in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes so the flavor can develop.
