This applesauce is made by cooking chopped apples with cinnamon and lemon juice in a pressure cooker, then mashing them. It contains no added sweetener and relies only on the apples’ own sweetness. Using a pressure cooker greatly shortens the cooking time compared with the traditional method.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Add the apples to the pressure cooker

3 min

Put the chopped apples in the pressure cooker, add the cinnamon, lemon juice, and water, then close the lid.

2

Cook

8 min

Bring the pressure cooker to a boil over high heat. After it whistles, lower the heat and cook for 8 more minutes; the apples will soften completely during this time.

3

Mash into a smooth sauce

4 min

Let the pressure release naturally, then open the lid and mash the apples with a fork or blender until smooth.

Reminder

Be sure to lower the heat after the pressure cooker whistles; if you leave it over high heat, the apples may stick to the bottom.
