Supplì are a Roman street food made by filling tomato-seasoned rice with mozzarella, coating the balls in breadcrumbs, and frying them. They can be shaped and frozen before frying, making them a hearty late-night snack.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Cook and Cool the Rice

20 min

Cook the rice with the tomato sauce and salt according to the package directions. Spread it on a large tray and let it cool to room temperature.

2

Fill and Shape the Rice Balls

15 min

Take a handful of cooled rice and shape it into a ball around a cube of mozzarella. Repeat with the remaining rice.

3

Coat and Fry

15 min

Coat each ball first in flour, then in beaten egg, and finally in breadcrumbs. Heat the cooking oil over medium heat and fry for 8 minutes, turning until golden on all sides.

Reminder

Let the rice cool completely before shaping; warm rice may fall apart in your hands. Place the mozzarella in the center of each ball so it does not ooze out while frying. Allergens: contains wheat (breadcrumbs), milk and dairy (mozzarella), and egg.

Mozzarellayı tam ortasında gizlemeye özen gösterdim ve ısırınca güzelce uzadı, hazırladığım 5 kişilik porsiyonun tamamı geç saat atıştırmalığı için gerçekten harika oldu, misafirlerim tabağı hızlıca bitirdi.

Pirinci tarifte önerildiği gibi tamamen soğuyana kadar bekledim, 20 dakika sonunda elimde hiç dağılmadan şekillendirebildim; sıcakken denediğimde tam bir dağınıklık olmuş, mozzarella her yerine yapışmıştı.
