A refreshing fruit salad from Lebanese tables, this dish is made by combining melon and orange with pomegranate arils, fresh mint, sumac and pepper flakes. The tart, spicy touch drizzled over the sweet fruit gives a very different experience from an ordinary fruit salad.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the fruit

15 min

Cube the melon and segment the orange, removing the membranes.

2

Combine

5 min

Gently toss the melon and orange with the pomegranate arils and mint in a bowl.

3

Season

5 min

Drizzle the salad with lemon juice, season with sumac and pepper flakes, and serve right away.

Reminder

If you do not serve the salad soon after mixing in the pepper flakes, the fruit releases liquid and the heat spreads unevenly. If you cut the orange without removing the membranes, it can add a bitter note to the salad.
