Steamed fish is a light Turkish main course made by cooking white fish with carrot, celery and onion in its own steam over low heat. Cooked without added fat, it offers a diabetes-friendly option.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Layer the pot

10 min

Spread the onion rings, carrot and celery over the base of the pot, then arrange the lemon slices on top.

2

Add the fish

5 min

Place the fish fillets on top of the vegetables, season with salt, and pour the water around the edge.

3

Steam

35 min

Cover and cook over very low heat for 35 minutes, until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Reminder

Do not lift the lid often, or steam escapes and the fish can dry out. Keep the heat very low; high heat breaks the fish apart. Allergens: contains fish.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Placing a few lemon slices under the vegetables adds a light freshness through the steam.

Kapağı tarifte önerildiği gibi hiç açmadan 35 dakika pişirdim, balık gerçekten dağılmadan buğulanmış ve sebzeler tatlarını balığa güzelce vermişti, 6 kişilik porsiyon tam kararında çıktı.
