Made by cooking chopped apples with cinnamon and lemon juice in a pressure cooker and mashing them, this sauce relies only on the apples' own sweetness, with no sweetener added at all. Using a pressure cooker cuts the cooking time considerably compared to the stovetop method.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Add to the pressure cooker

3 min

Put the chopped apples into the pressure cooker, add the cinnamon, lemon juice and water, and close the lid.

2

Cook

8 min

Bring the pressure cooker to the boil over high heat, and once it starts whistling, lower the heat and cook for 8 more minutes; the apples will be completely soft by then.

3

Mash into a sauce

4 min

Once the cooker has released its pressure on its own, open the lid and mash the apples with a fork or blender until you have a smooth sauce.

Reminder

Once the pressure cooker starts whistling, be sure to lower the heat, or the apples may stick to the bottom if left on high.
