A classic British snack, flapjack is made by mixing oats with melted butter and honey, pressing the mixture into a tray and baking it. Sliced once out of the oven, it makes a practical sweet for a crowded table.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Melt the Mixture

4 min

Melt the butter, honey and brown sugar together over low heat, stirring until smooth.

2

Mix in the Oats

2 min

Stir the rolled oats, raisins, cinnamon and salt into the melted mixture.

3

Press into the Tray

3 min

Pour the mixture into a parchment-lined tray and press it down firmly and evenly with the back of a spoon.

4

Bake and Slice

20 min

Bake in an oven preheated to 170°C for 20 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden. Once out, let it sit for 10 minutes and slice it while still warm.

Reminder

Important: if you don't press the mixture firmly into the tray, it falls apart once baked. Allergens: contains gluten (oats) and dairy (butter).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you have leftover dried fruit, you can swap half the raisins for it; chopped apricot or dates also work well in this mixture.
