Slices of very ripe plantain, with skins gone black, are brushed with a little oil and quickly charred on the grill. A sweet-savoury Cuban breakfast classic, this bite also travels well to a party or barbecue table, made without dairy.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Slice

3 min

Peel the ripe plantains and slice them diagonally about 1 cm thick.

2

Oil

2 min

Brush both sides of the slices lightly with the oil.

3

Grill and serve

8 min

Grill on a preheated grill for 4 minutes per side, until caramelized with char marks; sprinkle with cinnamon before serving if you like.

Reminder

The riper the plantains, the faster they caramelize on the grill — choose ones with skins that have gone fully black. This recipe contains no known allergens.
