A dessert fitting for Greek barbecue tables, this dish grills honey-brushed figs until caramelised, then tops them with white cheese and walnuts. Catching the exact right moment on the grill takes skill — the secret to this sweet-and-savoury dish.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the figs

5 min

Halve the figs and brush honey on the cut sides.

2

Grill

8 min

Place the figs cut side down on a preheated grill and cook for two minutes, then flip and grill for one more minute.

3

Garnish

4 min

Top the grilled figs with crumbled white cheese, broken walnuts and fresh thyme, and serve hot.

Reminder

Do not flip the figs too often on the grill; the cut sides can turn mushy before they caramelise. Allergens: contains dairy (white cheese) and tree nuts (walnut).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you do not have a barbecue, you can char the figs in a cast-iron pan over high heat for the same amount of time; the result is nearly identical.
