Kumru, one of İzmir's street food favorites, is prepared by filling sesame kumru bread with sucuk, sausage, kaşar cheese, and tomato and melting it on the grill. With its generous filling and hearty structure, it's ideal for those seeking a quick lunch or dinner snack.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the ingredients

5 min

Split the kumru rolls in half, thinly slice the sucuk and sausage, and cut the tomato into rounds.

2

Sauté

5 min

Lightly fry the sucuk and sausage over low heat until they release their fat, then set aside.

3

Assemble the sandwich

3 min

Lightly oil the inside of the bread and layer in the kaşar cheese, fried sucuk and sausage, tomato and pepper in order.

4

Melt on the grill

5 min

Grill the kumru in a toaster or on a griddle until the kaşar cheese melts thoroughly and the bread lightly browns, then serve hot.

Reminder

Important: Lightly grease the inner surface of the bread before grilling, otherwise the inside may not warm through before the edges dry out; don't take the sandwich off the heat until the cheddar-type cheese has fully melted. Allergen: contains gluten (kumru bread) and dairy products (cheddar-type cheese).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you lightly sauté the sucuk and sausage before adding them, they release excess fat, keeping the sandwich from getting soggy.

Annemin yıllardır yaptığı tarife çok benziyor, nostaljik oldu.
