Inspired by Mexico's abundance of tropical fruit, this recipe is made by mashing ripe mango and mixing it with chia seeds and lime juice, setting in the fridge without ever touching the stove. It can also be stored in the freezer.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Mash the Mango

5 min

Mash the peeled ripe mango with a fork or blender until smooth.

2

Mix in the Chia and Lime

5 min

Stir the chia seeds, lime juice and honey into the mashed mango until well combined.

3

Set in the Fridge

240 min

Transfer the mixture to a clean jar and chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours, until the chia seeds swell into a gel-like consistency.

Reminder

Important: once the jam goes into the fridge, leave it undisturbed for at least 4 hours, or the chia seeds won't distribute evenly and will clump.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If the consistency turns out too stiff, you can stir in a spoonful of water; if it stays too runny, waiting a few more hours is usually enough.
