Montreal's famous smoked beef pastrami gets wrapped in crisp lettuce instead of bread for a ketogenic take on the classic sandwich. Air-frying the pastrami keeps its signature char while mustard and pickles carry the flavour.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the pastrami

5 min

Blot the beef pastrami slices with paper towel to remove excess moisture, drizzle with olive oil and season with black pepper.

2

Air-fry the pastrami

10 min

Set the air fryer to 200°C and lay the pastrami slices in a single layer in the basket, cooking for 10 minutes until the edges curl and lightly char. Without an air fryer, heat the oven to 200°C and crisp the pastrami on a baking sheet for the same time.

3

Wrap and serve

7 min

Layer two lettuce leaves, spread with mustard, then add the crisped pastrami, a slice of kashar cheese and pickle, and roll tightly. Serve immediately.

Reminder

Pat the lettuce leaves fully dry before wrapping, or they will tear as you roll. Allergens: contains milk and dairy (kashar cheese).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Blotting the pastrami with paper towel before it goes into the air fryer helps the edges crisp up more evenly.
