Uzbek kompot is a refreshing drink made by long-simmering dried apricots and raisins with a cinnamon stick, needing no added sugar. It suits a brunch table served either warm or chilled.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Rinse the fruit

5 min

Rinse the dried apricots and raisins thoroughly under water.

2

Bring to the boil

10 min

Place the rinsed dried fruit, cinnamon stick and water in a pot and bring to the boil.

3

Simmer

30 min

Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for a further 30 minutes.

4

Steep

45 min

Remove from the heat and let it steep at room temperature for 45 minutes, then chill in the fridge before serving.

Reminder

Do not fully cover the pot while simmering, to keep it from boiling over. Do not shorten the steeping time, as this is when the dried fruit flavour infuses into the water.
