A classic of Cuban street food, pan con bistec is made by marinating steak in garlic and lime, tenderizing it in a pressure cooker, searing it in a pan, and piling it into a baguette with lettuce, tomato and olive oil.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Marinate the steak

20 min

Rub the steak with garlic, lime juice, cumin, salt and black pepper and marinate for 20 minutes.

2

Pressure-cook the steak

25 min

Put the steak with its marinade in the pressure cooker and cook over medium heat for 25 minutes; this tenderizes the cheaper cut.

3

Sear the steak

4 min

Sear the cooked steak in a hot pan over high heat for 2 minutes per side, 4 minutes total, then let it rest.

4

Build the sandwich

6 min

Split the baguette and brush with olive oil. Fill it with the sliced steak, lettuce and tomato, then serve.

Reminder

Fully release the pressure cooker's steam before opening the lid. Let the steak rest a few minutes after searing before slicing it. Allergens: contains gluten (baguette).
