Inspired by Aleppo's Syrian kitchens, semek harra pairs oven-baked fish in a whole-wheat crumb with a walnut tahini sauce. Its low-carb, heart-healthy profile makes it a light yet filling evening option.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the fish

10 min

Wash the sea bass fillets, pat dry with paper towel, and rub with salt.

2

Marinate

20 min

Mix the lemon juice, half the olive oil and cumin, rub over the fish, and marinate for twenty minutes.

3

Coat with crumbs

8 min

Coat the fish in the whole-wheat breadcrumbs and arrange on a baking tray.

4

Bake

25 min

Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for twenty-five minutes, until the fish is cooked and the crumb is golden.

5

Make the sauce

10 min

Mix the tahini, remaining olive oil, walnut, garlic and parsley, and drizzle over the fish to serve.

Reminder

Do not cover the fish with foil while baking, or the crumb topping will not turn crisp. Allergens: contains fish, sesame (tahini), tree nuts (walnut) and gluten (whole-wheat crumb).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you cannot find whole-wheat crumb, finely ground bulgur gives a similar crunch, though the texture stays a bit coarser.
