Baking-soda poğaça that rises quickly with baking powder, made with a simple dough kneaded with yogurt and vegetable oil, is an economical breakfast option. Prepared without any filling, this classic recipe goes straight into the oven without waiting for it to rise, and can be made fresh every morning.
Whisk together the lukewarm milk, melted butter, egg, salt and baking powder well in a bowl.
Gradually add flour and knead into a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands.
Pinch off walnut-sized pieces of dough, roll into balls and arrange on the tray.
Brush the tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds; bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees until golden brown.
Important: Don't add too much flour while kneading the dough, or the poğaça will turn hard and won't rise. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), milk and dairy, egg. Caution: if the oven is too hot, the outside can brown quickly while the inside stays doughy — bake at medium-high heat.
Using room-temperature yogurt makes the dough easier to knead and gives the poğaça a softer texture.
