Melt the honey and butter
8 minGently heat and melt the butter, honey and sugar over low heat.
Medivnyky, the honey-scented cookie of Ukrainian winters, is made by melting honey with butter and combining it with cinnamon. Shaping the dough without resting it causes the cookies to spread in the oven.
Gently heat and melt the butter, honey and sugar over low heat.
Once the mixture has cooled slightly, add the egg and whisk.
Add the flour, cinnamon and baking powder, knead, then wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
Shape the dough into small balls and arrange on a baking tray.
Bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes until the edges turn lightly golden.
Don't shape the dough before resting it; unrested dough spreads too much in the oven and gives thin, hard cookies. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), egg, and milk and dairy.
