Thinly sliced yuzu peel is simmered with honey and sugar to make the refreshing citrus jam of Japanese breakfast tables. Frozen in small portions, it keeps well for a long time.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the Yuzu

10 min

Thinly slice the yuzu peel and squeeze out the juice.

2

Boil

25 min

Simmer the sliced peel, yuzu juice, honey, sugar and water over low heat for 25 minutes until thickened.

3

Jar It

5 min

Pour the hot jam into sterilised jars and seal.

Reminder

Portion the jam into small jars before freezing, since you will need to use up the whole jar once thawed.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If yuzu is unavailable, a mix of lemon and tangerine zest gives a similar aroma.

Reçel bence fazla şekerli olmuş, yuzu'nun kendine has ekşiliği biraz kayboluyor. Tarifteki yarım su bardağı şekeri azaltmak isterim bir dahaki sefere, tadı yine de güzeldi.

Yuzu bulmak biraz zaman aldı ama reçeli ilk kez kendim yaptığımda kokusu tüm mutfağı sardı. Küçük kavanozlara bölüp dondurmak gerçekten pratikti, kahvaltıda harika gitti gerçekten.
