Sachertorte is an Austrian cake made by spreading apricot jam between layers of chocolate cake and coating it with chocolate fondant. It is believed to have been created in 1832 in Vienna by Franz Sacher. It has an intense chocolate flavor balanced by the tartness of the apricot.
