The classic trio of thinly sliced döner meat, tomato sauce and yogurt becomes a practical late-night sandwich tucked into a bread loaf. Marinating and roasting the meat takes time, but the preparation is technically straightforward.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Marinate the meat

60 min

Mix the thinly sliced diced beef with half the yogurt, the crushed garlic, cumin and salt. Refrigerate for 60 minutes.

2

Roast

25 min

Spread the meat on a tray and roast in an oven preheated to 200°C / 390°F for 25 minutes, until browned at the edges.

3

Make the tomato sauce

15 min

Cook the grated tomatoes with half the butter in a frying pan over low heat for 15 minutes, until thickened.

4

Assemble the sandwich

10 min

Split the loaf and fill it with the roasted meat, tomato sauce and remaining yogurt. Heat the remaining butter and drizzle it over the filling.

Reminder

Do not slice the meat as soon as it comes out of the oven. Rest it for 5 minutes first, or it will lose its juices and become dry. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten, bread), milk and dairy products (yogurt and butter).

Elimde somun kalmadığı için yerine dolaptaki ince lavaşı kullandım, üzerine gezdirdiğim tereyağlı sos lavaşı biraz yumuşattı ama tadı yine harikaydı, çocuklarım tabaklarını tertemiz sıyırdılar, bir dahaki sefere yine lavaşla deneyeceğim.

60 dakikalık marine süresi bende yetmedi, et hâlâ çiğ tadındaydı; gece geç saatte aceleyle yaptığım için beklemeden pişirdim, kendi hatam olabilir ama süre kısa geldi.

Eti gece atıştırmalığı için bir akşam önceden marine edip buzdolabında bekletmiştim, ertesi gün sadece 25 dakika fırınlayıp domates sosunu hazırladım, gerçekten dışarıdan aldığımız dönerin tadına çok yakın bir sonuç çıktı.
