Sandwiches, burgers, and wraps
Izmir's distinctive kumru sandwich roll is filled with spiced beef sausage and mild semi-hard cheese, then toasted until the cheese melts. Buttering both sides of the bread makes the outside crisp while keeping the inside soft.
Split the kumru roll in half and spread butter on both cut sides.
Fry the sausage slices in a skillet for 5 minutes.
Place the fried sausage, mild semi-hard cheese, tomato, and green pepper inside the bread.
Toast the sandwich for 12 minutes, until both sides are browned.
Cook the sausage thoroughly before closing the sandwich; if it is only partly cooked, it will leave a greasy flavor even as the cheese melts. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), milk, and dairy products.
