Slice the oranges
10 minPeel the oranges, removing the white pith, and slice them into rounds on a serving plate.
A winter classic from Hatay cuisine, this spicy orange salad combines sliced oranges with red onion, pepper flakes, sumac and toasted cumin. Finished with olive oil and fresh mint, it is both refreshing and spicy.
Peel the oranges, removing the white pith, and slice them into rounds on a serving plate.
Toast the cumin in a dry pan for 1 minute, until fragrant.
Scatter the red onion, pepper flakes, sumac, salt and toasted cumin over the orange slices, drizzle with olive oil and finish with fresh mint before serving.
Keep an eye on the cumin while toasting it; it burns quickly. Contains no listed allergens.
If you can't find sumac, a few drops of pomegranate molasses on top will give a similar tartness.
