Inspired by Canadian breakfast tables, this portable omelet jar is made by rolling a thin omelet seasoned with hot sauce and a touch of maple syrup, then slicing it into a jar. The sweet-heat balance turns an ordinary omelet into a practical lunchbox meal.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the mixture

5 min

Whisk the eggs, milk, maple syrup, hot sauce and salt, then stir in the scallion and red pepper.

2

Cook a thin omelet

6 min

Pour the mixture as a thin layer into a wide pan with heated olive oil and cook, covered, for 6 minutes without flipping until the base sets.

3

Cool and roll

5 min

Remove the omelet from the pan and let it cool for 5 minutes, then roll it up tightly.

4

Slice and place in the jar

3 min

Slice the roll into 2 cm pieces and arrange them in a jar or bowl to serve.

Reminder

Do not roll the omelet while it is piping hot; let it cool slightly first or it will crack. Allergens: contains egg.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Mix the maple syrup with the hot sauce beforehand and brush it on evenly so every slice of the omelet has the same sweet-heat balance.
