Toasted bread slices are rubbed with garlic and topped with a mixture of tomato, basil and olive oil, making bruschetta al pomodoro, the classic starter meze of Italian cuisine.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Toast the Bread

8 min

Toast the baguette slices in an oven preheated to 200°C for 8 minutes until crisp.

2

Make the Topping

8 min

Mix the chopped tomato with the chopped basil, olive oil and salt.

3

Rub and Top

6 min

Rub the toasted bread slices with the peeled garlic clove and pile the tomato mixture on top.

Reminder

Top the bread right before serving, or it may turn soggy from the filling's juices. Allergens: contains gluten (bread).

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Thyme can be used instead of basil; the flavour leans in a more Mediterranean direction.
