This dessert, made by softening dried figs in a light clove-infused syrup and filling them with crushed walnuts, is a traditional Turkish dessert that's quickly prepared with simple ingredients. It's served with a small amount of syrup drizzled over it.
Boil the sugar, water, cloves, and lemon juice; simmer over low heat for 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Add the dried figs to the boiling syrup and cook over low heat for 7-8 minutes until the figs soften. Caution: do not overboil, the figs may fall apart.
Once the figs have cooled slightly, make a small slit on top of each and place a coarsely chopped walnut inside, then drizzle a little syrup over them before serving.
Important: Don't overboil the figs in the syrup, or they can fall apart and lose their shape. Allergen: contains walnuts (nuts).
If you gently press and widen the inside of the figs before filling them, the walnut settles in more easily.
