Simmer the Oats in Milk
10 minBring the oats and milk to a boil in a pot, then simmer over low heat, stirring often, for 10 minutes until it thickens.
Avena, a popular street drink in Morocco, is a thick, cinnamon-spiced blend made by simmering oats in milk and blending it with banana and dates. It contains no nuts, so it can be enjoyed without worry.
Bring the oats and milk to a boil in a pot, then simmer over low heat, stirring often, for 10 minutes until it thickens.
Let the cooked oat mixture cool for 10 minutes.
Blend the cooled mixture with the banana, dates, cinnamon and honey until smooth.
Important: stir the oats often while simmering, or they stick and burn on the bottom of the pot. Allergens: contains gluten (oats) and dairy (milk).
If the mixture is too thick, you can thin it out with a few spoonfuls of cold milk before blending; if you want it sweeter, simply add more dates.
