Gyoza, the thin-wrappered dumpling of Japanese cuisine, is made by sealing a filling of ground chicken and cabbage into small pleated shapes, then both pan-frying and steaming them. It's served with a sauce made of soy sauce and rice vinegar.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the filling

10 min

Mix the ground chicken, cabbage, chives, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil.

2

Fill the gyoza

15 min

Place some filling in the center of the wrappers and seal in a pleated shape.

3

Cook in the pan

8 min

Cook until the bottoms are golden, then add water and cover with a lid to finish steaming.

4

Prepare the sauce

2 min

Mix the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

5

Serve

2 min

Serve hot together with the sauce.

Reminder

Important: Press the edges firmly when sealing the dough into pleats, otherwise the filling's liquid may leak out during steaming. Allergen: contains wheat (gluten), soy.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Adding a pinch of sesame seeds to the filling gives the gyoza both texture and a distinct toasted sesame aroma.
