A traditional dessert known for its natural sweetness, made by slow-cooking pumpkin with sugar until it releases its own juice and softens. Served with walnuts and clotted cream on top, it becomes an irresistible table favorite.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Rest the squash with sugar

120 min

Arrange the sliced pumpkin in a wide pot and sprinkle the sugar evenly over it; let it sit for a few hours to release its own juices.

2

Cook over low heat

40 min

Set the pot over low heat and cook until the pumpkin softens and the sugar melts into a thick syrup, occasionally shaking the pot to mix.

3

Cool and serve

10 min

Let the pumpkin dessert cool to room temperature, then serve topped with walnuts and kaymak if desired.

Reminder

Allergen: contains walnuts; when served with kaymak (clotted cream), it also contains dairy. Important: Don't add water while cooking the pumpkin with sugar — the pumpkin releases its own liquid; adding water thins the syrup and lowers its consistency.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Cutting the zucchini slices to an even thickness ensures they all cook and soften in the same amount of time.

Malzemeleri sırayla eklemeyi unuttum, kıvamı biraz farklı oldu.
