Makarony po-flotski is the classic Ukrainian household way to use up leftover boiled pasta: beef mince browned with plenty of onion is tossed with the pasta and finished with butter. It's a hearty stovetop dinner made quickly.
Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente, as per the package instructions, then drain.
Sauté the chopped onion with the beef mince in butter until the onion is well browned.
Add the drained hot pasta to the pan with the beef and onion mixture, season with salt and pepper and toss.
Stir in one more small piece of butter just before serving.
If you don't brown the mince and onion thoroughly before mixing with the pasta, the fat separates and pools on the plate; keep cooking until the onion is golden. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), milk and dairy (butter).
