Prepare the dough

A modern, vividly green cookie variety that brings the slightly bitter aroma of matcha green tea powder together with buttery dough. Inspired by Japanese cuisine, this recipe offers an unusual alternative to classic cookies.
Beat the butter with the sugar, then add the egg.
Sift in the flour, matcha powder, and baking powder, and mix until you get a uniform green-colored dough.
Pinch off small balls of dough, flatten them slightly and arrange on a baking tray, then bake in a preheated oven until the bottoms are lightly colored.
If desired, sift a thin layer of powdered sugar over the cooled cookies.
Allergen: contains wheat (gluten), egg and dairy products. Important: Sift the matcha powder thoroughly before adding it; unsifted matcha will clump in the dough and can leave bitter-tasting spots once baked.
If you use ceremonial-grade matcha instead of culinary-grade matcha, the color turns out more vibrant and the flavor softer; however, the price also rises noticeably.
