A simple, traditional Turkish snack made by washing sour, firm green plums, chilling them, and serving with salt. Found fresh at markets in spring, green plums balance their tartness with salt for a light snack.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the plums

5 min

Wash the green plums thoroughly and dry them; remove the stems if you like.

2

Chill

10 min

Chill the plums in the refrigerator or in ice water for a few minutes before serving.

3

Arrange on a plate

2 min

Arrange the chilled plums on a serving plate.

4

Serve with a pinch of salt

1 min

Serve with a small bowl of salt on the side, so the plums can be dipped in salt before eating.

Reminder

Important: Do not serve green plums without washing and drying them thoroughly, as dust/residue may remain on them. Since green plums are quite sour, those with sensitive stomachs should eat them in moderation.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

If you soak the plums in ice water for a few minutes before serving, they become both refreshed and their tartness feels more balanced.
